Overcoming earthly limitations
to apply aerospace technology in the "Lens World" |
Since 1950, human beings began the adventure of space. Due to
the requirement of having special equipment for space, especially
like astronauts’ helmet, eye, face shield and windows of the space
shuttle, NASA invested tremendous amounts of both human effort and
financial resources in inventing materials possessing the characteristics
of being ultra-light, ultra-thin, strong, impact-resistant, high
light transmission and being capable of blocking UV-rays. This material
is called Polycarbonate (abbreviated PC).
The GIA aerospace lens is made from polycarbonate (PC), an optical
material in hi-tech aerospace industry. |
